Bought on 12 March 2026 by J*** H***.
What it is
Counterfeits cost exclusive brands their name and their customers their money. ProdID-Check fixes this at the source: the brand gives each item a unique code, and every step of the item’s life is recorded against it, from the factory floor to the person who bought it.
One code per item
A unique ID code and QR tag, created when the item is made. No two items share one.
A traceable journey
Made, dispatched, received into a store, sold. Each scan updates the record, so the brand always knows where an item is.
Proof of purchase
The buyer is recorded at the till. The buyer chooses whether their name shows in full or masked, such as J*** H***, when anyone checks the code.

Check before you buy
Every item carries a tag with a QR code. Point your phone camera at it, and in seconds you see the brand, the product and its journey. No app to install, no account to make.
How it works
- The brand registers the item.At the end of the production line, the item gets its ID code and a QR tag to print and attach.
- It travels to a store. The brand scans a whole box out to the store, and the store scans it in. The record shows exactly which store holds it.
- The store sells it.The till scans the tag and records the buyer, with their agreement. The buyer gets a private handover code.
- Anyone can check it.Scan the QR with your phone camera or the free app, or type the code. The page confirms the item is genuine and shows who made it.
The code tells the story
Check a product’s code and it shows which store is supposed to have it, or, once it is sold, who bought it and where.
Your customers become your inspectors
Every shopper with a phone can check an item and report a fake or a missing code, with a photo, straight to your brand. Thousands of extra eyes on your products, at no cost to you.
Who it’s for
Brands
Register items one by one or upload a whole range from a spreadsheet, dispatch to stores, and watch stock move. See reports of suspicious goods from the public, with photos and locations. Freeze stolen items, add a verify badge to your website, and connect your stock systems.
Stores
Receive stock and register sales by scanning the tag, with a scan station for barcode scanners or by phone. Find a returning customer’s purchase by name, even without the slip.
Shoppers and owners
Scan an item before you buy it. Spot something with no code, or a code that doesn’t check out? Report it to the brand with a photo. Pass ownership on when you resell, and report an item if it is ever stolen.

Made for the shop floor
Staff scan the tag when stock arrives and again at the till. Shoppers in the aisle can check an item themselves before it reaches the till. The brand always knows which store holds what.
Clothing, footwear and accessories
Whatever the item, the check is the same: scan the tag, see the code, know.

Built for trust
- Anyone can report a fake. No code on the item, or a code we don’t recognise? The public can send the brand a photo and where they saw it, without an account.
- Stolen and lost items are frozen. A reported item cannot be dispatched, sold or transferred, and shows a clear warning when checked.
- Ownership you can pass on. A private handover code lets an owner transfer an item to its next owner. Five wrong guesses lock the item, and only the selling store or the brand can reset it.
- Your systems, connected. Tills and stock systems can update records automatically with secure integration keys.
- An extra backup of your products. Brands keep a second copy of every item they register with ProdID-Check, and can always get to it when they need it.
- Your whole range, fast. Upload a spreadsheet and every item gets its own code, ready to print as labels. If your label printer can’t print QR codes, print the code alone on a box sticker or on paper.
- Dispatch by the box. Connect a USB scanner, scan every item going to a store, and send them all in one go.
- Check from the app. The Android app opens straight to a check screen with a built-in camera scanner. No account needed.

Questions
Does “Authentic” guarantee the item is genuine?
It confirms that the code exists in our records and was registered by that brand. It does not replace your own judgement: check that the code on the tag, the product and the brand match. A code that is unknown, already reported, or registered to a different brand is a warning sign.
Can strangers see who bought an item?
Only the name the buyer agreed to show. The public result shows the product, the brand and its status. If it has been sold it shows the buyer’s name in full or masked, such as J*** H***, as the buyer chose at the sale. Contact details are visible only to the brand and the store that sold it.
What if I resell the item?
Use the handover code you were given at the till. Enter it on the verify page with the new owner’s details, and ownership passes on. The old code stops working and the new owner gets a fresh one.
What if an item is stolen?
The brand, the store or the owner can report it. A reported item is frozen and shows a warning when anyone checks its code. Only the brand can clear the report.
What does it cost?
Brands pay a once-off onboarding fee of R150 and then R150 a month on the Starter plan, which covers up to 500 new items a month. Bigger brands pay R350 once-off and R350 a month for up to 5,000 new items a month. Pay for a year up front and the onboarding fee is waived on both plans. Shoppers and owners never pay to check an item.
