Till helper for Windows
For stores that sell at a till computer with a USB scanner and do not have a developer to connect their systems.
What it does
A teller scans a ProdID-Check tag with the till’s USB scanner. ProdID-Check opens straight on the sale form for that tag, whatever program was in front. The teller types the buyer’s name, ticks that the buyer agrees, and finishes the sale. The handover code appears for the receipt. The handover slip prints by itself on the till’s printer (set for 80 mm paper) when the teller registers the sale. Staple it to the till slip. Brands whose till software can print it on its own slip can do that through an integration key.
The barcodes your own till software uses are not touched. Only a ProdID-Check tag is recognised.
Set it up (once per till computer)
- Download the till helper (zip, Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit)
- Unzip it and copy the folder somewhere permanent, for example
C:\ProdID-Till-Helper. - Double-click Install.bat. If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info, then Run anyway. We are still getting the program signed, which removes that message.
- Open ProdID-Check in the browser, sign in as the store, and leave it open.
- Scan a tag to try it.
It starts with Windows from then on. Stop.bat stops it for now and Remove.bat removes it.
What it listens to
A scanner types like a keyboard, so the helper has to watch the keyboard. It holds back only keystrokes that begin like a ProdID-Check tag (“PIC-” or “http”) for a fraction of a second. Anything else is typed exactly as it came. Nothing it sees is saved or sent. It writes a small log of the tags scanned and never the keys.
If it does not work
- Check that ProdID-Check is signed in as the store and the browser is open.
- Some scanners send a different ending than Enter. Email us the make and model.
- Open the log,
prodid-helper.log, in the helper folder, and send it to us.
